Elisabetta Clementel

The reasons why I do what I do
My motivations are simple, my objectives unreachable and naive, possibly, but worth it:
I want to use all my knowledge to bring greenery into everybody's lives.
I want to make it attractive, achievable and exciting to all.
I want to learn about it more and more, so as to create something that is sustainable for the planet and for my client.
Plants and greenery are an incredible source of well-being and happiness to me, I want to show it to everybody else.
Even is such a fast-paced world, we can still find the time to improve our lives, our homes, our work environment.
Making the world greener, little by little, one person or one plant at the time, it's what motivates me.

What's behind my Design Process:
- Your customers’ needs and usage of the garden are of the foremost importance.
- The genius loci, translatable as the 'sense of the place', must never be forgotten.
- Design with nature, wildlife, and climate change in mind.
- Only choose the right plant for the right place.
- "Always choose the best cultivar/variety of every plant specie" (Lawrence Johnston, owner of Hidcote)
- Without proper maintenance, there is no garden, only wilderness.
- Never trust a gardener that acts like knowing it all.
Briefly putting my Design Path into words
I've had the luck to design gardens for clients which became friends, in the stunning surroundings of Hampstead Heath, Belgravia, Covent Garden, and Barnes to say a few.
I had to work for private owners buying a new property and companies refurbishing their offices.
Garden Design was my main field of expertise. After becoming Manager of the Clifton Nursery glasshouse, in Little Venice, I also challenged myself with interior plants design.
I managed two pop-up stores at Harvey Nicholson and Peter Jones, following the Indoor Plants trend of these last years.
This plus the garden at Chelsea Flower Show, a trade stand of 10 x 12m facing Main Avenue (where all the show gardens are displayed).
I work considering plants from a scientific point of view thanks to my university studies. Plants can be a wonderful hobby, but they are for me an ever-challenging profession.
I consider my sense of style and beauty to be just like a muscle that needs continuous training and maintenance. I get that from my love of the arts, gardens and book of past gardening visionaries.
